Building replacement

proposed projects

During the 2021-22 school year, the district completed a 10-month Facilities Master Plan (FMP) process, in which more than 775 stakeholders identified and prioritized projects that satisfied the mission and vision of the District. Stakeholders included students, staff, district leadership, parent and community members, and neighboring cities and towns where potential projects might have an impact. While many projects were identified as high priority at all school sites, the following are the projects at Redwood and Tamalpais High School that are Board approved for initial design work. Project updates are included under "Site Committee Board Updates" below.  For details about all identified projects and priorities, see the full FMP Document here

The proposed Fine Arts, Student Commons & Dining Building Replacement Project at Redwood includes demolition of the art and music portables on the southeast corner of campus and replacing them with a new cafeteria, a two-story art building addition and a new band/music building. The portables are well beyond their useful lives and are not eligible for upgrade or repair. If approved, the current cafeteria (CEA) will be converted into a student commons area.

Clarification: The proposed cost of the new Cafeteria (inclusive of dining area, kitchen, food court, toilet rooms, refrigeration, storage, etc.) is an estimated $22.76 million.
