Observational Drawings

Pencil Sketch

This drawing is produced with a sketching pencil.

• There are wavy rectangle shapes that changes sizes and eventually scales down to circles.
• Smooth rounded outlines around the head of the crocodile, not many sharp edges.
• There are reptile textures/scales that can clearly be seen with the different tonal values applied to form these textures.

Black Outlining Pen

This drawing is produced with a black pen

• There are rounded corner triangle shapes at the top of the crocodile where the scales are shown. Also, the shape of its back leg forms a triangle as it bends. Overall, the crocodile drawing is shaped into a rectangle.
• Textures are shaded in and have bold outlines where shadows are located, forming detailed reptile scales.

Acrylic Paint

This drawing is produced with acrylic paint

• Teeth have smooth rounded triangle shapes and there are different sizes of diamond shapes that are on the skin of the crocodile.
• There are saturated yellow tones on the bottom section of the crocodile and grey tones that have a brown tint of colour applied that blends in the yellow and grey in the middle section.
• Dark tones are applied around the teeth that go outside the crocodile's mouth to make the teeth stand out, with highlights to make it realistic.

Indian Ink

This drawing is produced with indian ink

• The drawing tapers upwards towards the nose of the crocodile forming a tapered rectangle shape that can be seen. Teeth are different forms of triangles that curve to the side.
• Scaly reptile forms and textures
• Different tones of grey with a little yellow around the eyes.
