To ensure an optimal environment for specialized study and research, advance reservations are required for visits to the study space.
To apply, kindly read this page thoroughly and use the "Reservation Form."
Additionally, certain areas are open for visits without a reservation. For details, please refer to "Visit Open Spaces (No Reservation Required)."
Please note that the available dates/times and photography policies differ between the university's teaching terms and off-terms.

1) During Teaching Terms (Spring Term: Apr 10 - Jul 28, 2025; Fall Term: Sep 3, 2025 - Jan 10, 2026)

Photography Rules (During Teaching Terms)
Due to the large number of library users, photography is not permitted within the study space.
Photography is permitted for the exterior of the library and its 1st-floor* open spaces.

2) During Off-Term Periods (Summer and Spring long breaks)
Generally, Monday to Friday
Two slots available: 10:00-11:00 and 14:00-15:00
Photography Rules (During Off-Term Periods)
Photography is permitted within the entire building, including study space, under certain conditions.
Maximum per slot: 20 people
All visitors are requested to sign a pledge form upon entry, confirming their understanding of our rules and commitment to a respectful academic environment.
Individuals should sign individually, and for group visits, the representative should sign.
Even when photography is permitted within study spaces, certain photography activities are restricted to ensure the privacy of our users and maintain a quiet study atmosphere:
- Video recording or audio recording
- Photography for commercial purposes
- Photography of copyrighted materials
- Any photography of individuals, whether self-portraits or of others
- Use of flash, tripods, selfie sticks, or similar equipment
- Uploading photos taken within the study space to SNS, websites, or other online platforms
- Preschool-aged children are not permitted to enter. Elementary and junior high school students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for visits.
- Parking is not available, including for chartered buses.
- We do not accept commercial group tours organized by travel agencies or similar entities.
If you wish to visit the study space, please follow the procedures below.
- Please apply via the "Reservation Form" on this page.
- Applications open 60 days in advance. We update the reservation slots for the month after next in the beginning of each month (update dates may change during long library closures).
- Your application is a tentative booking. Our staff will contact you later regarding the acceptance or rejection of your visit.

- After this deadline, only cancellations will be accepted.

- For English speakers, please note that changes and cancellations should be made via email to tosho-visit@tamabi.ac.jp.
- The deadline for reservation changes is one week prior to your desired visit date.
- You can cancel your reservation's date/time via the reservation system (Japanese Only).
- If you wish to change your reservation, please first cancel your existing reservation, and then make a new one.

Please arrive by the start time of your reserved slot on the day of your visit.
- Please come by public transport. Parking is not available, including for chartered buses.
- Upon arrival, please inform the main gate security guard that you are here for a library visit to gain entry.
- Once inside the building, please proceed to the library reception.
- We will ask you to sign a pledge regarding your visit at the reception.
- Your visit inside the study space is limited to a maximum of one hour within your reserved time slot.
- We will provide a brief explanation of the building and important notes, but please understand that there will be no guided tour by a librarian.
- If you arrive 30 minutes or more after your scheduled arrival time, your reservation will be automatically cancelled.
- Even if you are less than 30 minutes late, please note that you will be required to leave by the end time of your reserved slot.
- Locker use is restricted to the duration of your library visit.
- Please note that lost and found items will be kept for one week, after which they will be disposed of. Items cannot be picked up after closing hours.
- In principle, we will respond to inquiries and applications within 3 business days. However, during long library closures (e.g., mid-August holidays, New Year's holidays, entrance exam periods (February), Tama Art University Festival period (late October to early November), or other specified periods), it may take up to approximately two weeks. Please refer to the opening calendar for details.
- Due to administrative processing days, application deadlines for visits may be closed earlier than the usual deadline.
- Inquiries should, in principle, be made via email. Please note that we may not be able to answer inquiries made by phone or at the library counter.
A. On the day of your visit, we will provide you with handouts and give a brief general explanation of the building and its important notes. Please understand in advance that there will be no guided tour by a librarian.
A. Free brochures are available. Additionally, publications from the time of the library's construction can be purchased for 2,000 JPY (Japanese Only). Please ask at the counter if you wish to purchase one.

Access to Hachioji Campus
From Hashimoto Station (JR Yokohama Line / Keio Sagamihara Line), take the Kanagawa Chuo Kotsu Bus bound for "Tama Art University" from the North Exit (approx. 8 minutes).
Alternatively, from Hachioji Station South Exit (JR Hachioji Station), take the Keio Bus (approx. 20 minutes).
