Announcement of the Ken K Observatory and bronze plaque unveiling (May 2023 TAS Meeting)
One hallmark of a healthy volunteer organization is the ability to continue its mission over generations. Ken Kopczynski led TAS from 2004 to 2022 and led the establishment the of the Cypress Landing Astronomical Park, including construction of the telescope dome. In 2023, the club named the dome after Ken, establishing the Ken Kopzcynski "Sky Guy" Observatory, which also honors the Sky Guy column Ken wrote for many years for the Tallahassee Democrat newspaper. This gallery features unveiling and presentation of the cast bronze plaque with the new name of the dome, at the May 2023 TAS monthly meeting. The plaque will be permanently affixed to the observatory. Â
