😜 Pod people

When looking at the Stream, you are presented with several filtering options. What you may not know is that those filters can drastically change your experience on Pluspora. Let's look at some of these.

Contents

  • The Stream
  • Public Activity
  • Followed Hashtags

The Stream

The main stream shows everything you follow (people you've added to Aspects, hashtags you've followed) in a chronological order. It will include people and hashtag content from other pods as well. This is the bread and butter of your experience on Pluspora. It's like the main stream on Google+.

Public Activity

When you open the Public Activity stream, you will view much more than Pluspora has to offer. Public Activity shows not just public posts made by Pluspora members, but members of other Diaspora pods. That means people and hashtags you are unfamiliar with will show up here. This also means there may be different terms and conditions for those other pods. Different administrators and moderators. Different rules. For example, some pods do not allow any nudity, whereas Pluspora allows nudity so long as the #nsfw hashtag has been utilized properly. You may find some of these other communities a welcome home, or you may find they are not for you.

One thing to remember is that we do not moderate (read: ban, delete content) of other pods. We do see when reports are made about users from other pods, but it is outside of our control.

Use Public Activity and other pods at your own discretion.

The quickest way to discover if a user is in the Pluspora network is to check their username. If it is username@pluspora.com, then you know they are in the Pluspora pod. If it is username@literallyanythingelse.com, they are in a different pod.

Followed hashtags

When you select a hashtag, it opens a hashtag search page. On this page, you can choose to follow (or unfollow) a hashtag. When you follow a hashtag, posts tagged with that hashtag will begin to show up in the Stream. You can also access an individual stream of a hashtag from the menu on the Stream page. Hashtags will surface posts from not only people you have followed who have used the tags, but also others who have used the tag and published publicly.
