#CheckIn

The #CheckIn community is for folks who want to find a group of people with whom to hang out regularly. You can drop by, say hi, join in, or sit back and read. It's all cool. While a host may introduce a theme with the day's post, as around a water cooler or local establishment, folks are free to respond or chat about anything else.

Where we came from ... #CheckIn originated on Google+ and was created by Lawrence (LD) Williams. After the Google+ closure for consumers, the original #CheckIn group seamlessly moved to MeWe. It continues to thrive. #CheckIn is an expansion of the original when many users moved to the Pluspora pod on Diaspora. LD visited now and again, but the daily forum is in the capable hands of the round-robin team.

Where we're headed ... The Pluspora Pod was a safe well-moderated introduction to the wide world of the federated network but all good things come to an end. With the closure of the pod people found new homes; some on Diaspora and some on Friendica. Now it's simply CheckIn. We're using a central posting account although existing hosts may use their own. 

However, things shake out, following #CheckIn or requesting to be added to the notification list will help us keep in touch. See you there!
