Services

Reading & Self-study

  • Students can read and study in the school library during the service hours

  • SILENCE must be strictly observed in the School Library

  • Bags and packages should not be brought into the School Library. All bags and packages should be placed in the cabinet near the front door of the School Library

  • Food and drinks should not be brought into the School Library

  • Chairs and articles for common use in the School Library must be restored to their proper places after use

Borrowing & returning items

  • You can borrow 7 items with each student card for 14 days. You can renew the item twice if no one reserved.

  • Encyclopedias, dictionaries, school publications, newspapers, and other reference books may not be brought out of the library.

  • A fine of $50 cents is imposed on overdue item.

  • A charge will be made for any library item lost or damaged, it will be such sum as the librarian considers necessary to replace the library item or set of library items of which the library item forms a part. In addition a surcharge of 20% of the published price shall be payable.

Reservation

  • Students may reserve a maximum of 7 items of library materials

  • Library materials can be reserved in person or through the internet (http://library.takoi.edu.hk/). This service is free of charge

Photocopying & Printing

  • 30 cents for each piece of photocopying (black and white only) by using Octopus card.

Multimedia

  • Students can browse internet or read VCD/ DVD in the computers placed in the school library

  • Students should not disturb others when using computers

  • It is not allowed to browse any material which is consider as improper

  • Don’t downloaded illegally or copy materials without approval

  • Students should fill in the “Loan of AV materials” form when you borrowed AV materials

Regulations

Library Rules & Regulations for Teachers

1. Library Card (Staff card)

    • Staff cards are not transferable and staff are held responsible for the use of their staff cards

    • Loss of staff cards must be reported to the General Office staff in person at once. A charge should be paid for the replacement. Unless the staff card is reported lost in person, the staff is held responsible for the loss of any library materials involved

2. Borrowing Quota and Period

    • Staff may borrow a maximum of 30 items of library materials

    • Library materials for lending may be borrowed for a period of 28 days (except SBA DVD & past paper)

    • Reference books and encyclopedias may be borrowed for a lesson or so but must be returned after use

3. Overdue Fines

    • A fine of one dollar ($1.00) is imposed per day for each overdue book

4. Damage and Loss

    • Staff should be responsible for the items they borrowed from the School Library. For any loss or damage, a replacement fee and a surcharge of 20% of the purchase amount will be charged

    • The stocks of staff collection books are usually agreed upon between the Librarian and the Subject Department Heads. They are placed in the cabinet at the balcony. Those books should be returned to the School Library at the end of the school year for stock taking. For any loss or damage, Subject Department Heads will be responsible, a replacement fee and a surcharge of 20% of the purchase amount will be charged

5. Renewals

    • Items which are not on the reservation list may be renewed twice with a period of 28 days for each renewal

    • Library materials can be renewed in person or through the internet (http://library.takoi.edu.hk/)

    • The new due date is calculated from the day the borrowed item is renewed irrespective of the original due date

    • All borrowed items which cannot be renewed successfully should be returned to the School Library by the original due date. Overdue fines will be strictly enforced

7. Issue of Receipts

    • Staff are needed to use octopus cards to settle the self-help printing and photocopying services

    • Receipts will be issued only upon request

    • Staff who use the self-help printing and photocopying services and require a receipt, please inform the Library Teachers the amount and quantity you used after using the services

* Any student who fails to observe the above regulations may be penalized by a withdrawal of her library rights.
