PRIVACY POLICY

TAD Labs ("we," "us," or "our") built Pulse as a private connection app for couples. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and date of birth (used solely for age verification).

Partner Connection Data: We store your pairing status and a unique invite code to connect you with your partner.

App Activity: We store the haptic tap patterns you send and receive, quiz answers, game states, daily question responses, mood check-ins, notes, chat messages, drawings, and pet/streak activity between you and your partner.

Photos: Photos you choose to share through the app are uploaded to and stored on Google Firebase Storage. Photos are only accessible to you and your paired partner. Photos are permanently deleted from our servers when you delete your account or unpair from your partner.

Location Data: If you enable the Location feature, we collect your device's GPS coordinates to share your real-time position with your paired partner. Location data is stored only as your most recent known position — we do not retain location history. If you grant background location permission, we may collect your location while the app is not in the foreground solely to detect arrivals and departures from saved places and notify your partner. Location sharing is mutual — both partners must enable it independently. Your location is never shared with anyone outside your pair. All location data is permanently deleted when you disable the feature, unpair, or delete your account. You can revoke location permission at any time through your device settings.

Device Information: We collect your device's push notification token to deliver notifications. This token is removed from our servers when you sign out or delete your account.

Purchase Information: If you subscribe to Pulse Premium, purchase transactions are processed by Apple or Google. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat may collect your app user ID and purchase history to verify your entitlement. We do not store your payment details directly.

Advertising: The free version of Pulse uses Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) and usage data to serve relevant ads. You can limit ad tracking through your device's privacy settings. Pulse Premium removes all ads.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide and improve the Pulse app experience. Specifically:

• To connect you with your partner and sync shared content

• To deliver haptic tap and in-app notifications

• To store your shared relationship activity and history

• To verify you meet the minimum age requirement

• To share your real-time location with your paired partner when Location is enabled, and to send arrival/departure notifications

• To verify and manage your Pulse Premium subscription status

• To serve advertisements to free users

• To provide customer support

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore, Storage, and Authentication), which complies with industry-standard security practices. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Specific retention rules:

• Location data: only your most recent position is stored; no historical location is retained

• Photos: retained until account deletion or unpair

• Chat messages and app activity: retained until account deletion

• Push tokens: removed on sign out or account deletion

• All data: permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as follows:

• With your paired partner (only the data you both generate together)

• With Google Firebase as our infrastructure and storage provider

• With Google Maps Platform solely to display maps (no personal data retained beyond standard API usage)

• With RevenueCat solely to manage subscription entitlements

• With Google AdMob to serve advertisements to free users

• With Expo (Expo Push Service) solely to deliver push notifications

• If required by applicable law or valid legal process

Your Rights & Data Deletion

You can delete your account at any time within the app via Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, photos, location data, invite code, and credentials from our servers. You can also unpair from your partner at any time within the app, which removes shared location data immediately.

California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal data we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information).

EEA/UK residents (GDPR): You have the right to access, correct, port, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@tad-labs.org.

Children's Privacy

Pulse is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us immediately at support@tad-labs.org.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

TERMS OF SERVICE

By downloading or using Pulse, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Pulse, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Use of the App

Pulse is a private communication app designed for couples. You agree to:

• Use the app only for lawful, personal purposes

• Not share your account with anyone other than your paired partner

• Not use the app to harass, harm, stalk, or surveil any person

• Not attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or disrupt the app or its servers

• Not upload illegal, harmful, or non-consensual content of any kind

• Not use the Location feature to monitor anyone without their knowledge and active consent

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@tad-labs.org if you suspect unauthorized use.

4. Content

You are solely responsible for any content you share through Pulse, including notes, photos, chat messages, quiz answers, and drawings. TAD Labs does not monitor private content between paired users. By sharing content, you confirm you have the right to share it and that it does not violate any applicable laws.

5. Age Requirement & Adult Content

Pulse is intended for users 18 and older. Pulse contains optional adult-themed content. By using Pulse, you confirm you are at least 18 years of age. We reserve the right to terminate accounts of users found to be under 18.

6. Account Deletion & Termination

You may delete your account at any time within the app via Settings → Delete Account. Account deletion permanently removes your profile, photos, location data, invite code, and credentials from our servers within 30 days.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms, without prior notice.

7. Photos & Shared Content

Photos shared through Pulse are stored on Google Firebase Storage and are only accessible to you and your paired partner. Upon account deletion or unpair, your photos are permanently deleted from our servers.

8. Location Services

Pulse offers an optional Location feature that shares your real-time GPS position with your paired partner. By enabling this feature:

• You consent to your location being collected, stored, and shared with your paired partner

• You acknowledge that location sharing is mutual — both partners must independently enable it

• You agree not to use location data to harass, stalk, or surveil your partner or any other person

• You understand that background location (used for arrival/departure notifications) requires explicit device permission and can be revoked at any time through device settings

• You acknowledge that TAD Labs does not store location history — only your most recent position is retained

• All location data is permanently deleted when you disable the feature, unpair, or delete your account

9. Advertising

The free version of Pulse displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. By using the free version, you consent to the collection of advertising identifiers for ad personalization. You can opt out of personalized ads through your device settings. Pulse Premium removes all advertisements.

10. Disclaimers

Pulse is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. TAD Labs does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We are not responsible for any relationship outcomes, direct or indirect, resulting from use of the app.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TAD Labs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Pulse, including but not limited to loss of data or privacy breaches caused by your own device or account security practices.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will update the date at the top of this page when changes are made.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in accordance with applicable state and federal law.

14. Subscriptions & Payments

Pulse offers an optional auto-renewable subscription called Pulse Premium, available on a monthly or yearly basis. By purchasing a subscription, you agree to the following:

• Subscriptions are billed through your Apple App Store or Google Play account

• Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date

• You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device's App Store or Google Play account settings

• No refunds are provided for partial subscription periods, except where required by law

• Prices are displayed in the app prior to purchase and may vary by region

• One Pulse Premium subscription covers both you and your paired partner for the duration of the active subscription period

• TAD Labs reserves the right to change subscription pricing with advance notice
