The 'Pay What It Takes' (PWIT) initiative is a call to action for funders and for-purpose organisations to recognise and address the full cost of delivering impactful work.
This includes recognising both direct and indirect costs.
PWIT believes that there are multiple ways to achieving change in this space, whether it’s talking transparently about indirect costs, reframing overheads, or advocating for full cost funding.
PWIT champions distributed action, where individuals and groups independently contribute to a shared vision. This approach values diverse approaches to address systemic issues aligned with the shared vision to end the nonprofit starvation cycle.
This information and the supporting tools were developed in consultation with a range of Australian funders and for-purpose organisations.
