My name is Regina Vanderhoff, I am a Preschool Teacher here at Holy Family. I have been working with children since 1992. I began my career in a Family Day Care where I quickly realized that teaching young children was my passion. I attended Cazenovia College and graduated with a degree in Child Studies and Daycare services. After college, I taught at the Cazenovia College Nursery School. Once I started my own family, I left the nursery school to open my own Licensed Family Daycare. I started working at Holy Family in 2009.
I am married with four children, and I began teaching at Holy Family shortly after my children attended school here. I had a great appreciation for the staff and their acceptance of all children. Holy Family is truly a Family. The staff here take the extra time to get to know all the children and their families.
My children are my world and my greatest value is the belief that family comes first. We love to spend time together doing things like camping, walking our dogs and going on vacations. Whether it is my biological family or my work family, family will always come first.
My classroom offers 5 full days, Monday-Friday of Pre-K. Incorporated throughout are day is Science, Math, Social Studies, Religion and Literacy. Each week we have a new letter and number to focus on. In my classroom, I love to have fun and be creative. I enjoy doing science experiments with the kids and we often bring the outdoors, inside. In addition to academics, I also emphasize social/emotional skills such as teaching kindness, empathy and how to be great people. I also believe in practicing a variety of learning styles, as I recognize that not all children learn the same way. When my students graduate, I hope that they will remember how much they are loved, what an amazing person they are and that they can do amazing things.
