Homework/Test Policy

Planners:

Students will be using a planner to write down homework assignments, important events, and if anything additional is needed the next day. Parents are asked to look at the planner each night and initial that they have seen it.

Homework Policy:

I do not believe in assigning hours upon hours of homework. Students will typically have math homework each night, practicing spelling words, and maybe one other subject. I try to allow students time to work on their homework in the classroom, but I have them bring home their completed work before turning it in the next day. Doing this allows for parents/families to go over any questions and to see what the students are learning about in the classroom. Any work that students did not get completed during the school day will be sent home to be finished. This work will be highlighted in their planner.

Test corrections:

Students are allowed to complete test corrections in spelling and math. For spelling, students must do corrections if they scored 75 or below. Between a 75% and 85%, students may decide to do corrections. (Any score above an 85%, corrections will not be graded or looked at.) Students will then write each word they got wrong 5 times each. For math, students must do corrections on a separate sheet of paper that is labeled with each question they got wrong and this paper is turned in with their test. For all corrections, students will earn back half of the points that they lost.

*If a student must do corrections, it will be marked on the top of their test*

Note: I also drop every student's lowest quiz/test grade each quarter for every subject.
