Our Goals

In PE we teach our students about exercise and how it effects your body. Our preschoolers could tell you that exercise makes their heart beat faster, and our older students learn the importance of exercise for a healthy body and mind. Our year long goal in Physical Education is to create a safe and healthy environment that is comfortable for all abilities, and also prepare our students to be positive and hard-working individuals.  In order to do this we focus on teamwork and sportsmanship in everything we do. By concentrating on these goals students are able to reflect on if they had fun and tried their hardest in class instead of the outcome of a game.

Class Overview

We begin each class with a warmup, which includes jogging as well as an exercise (jumping jacks, sit-ups, pushups, mountain climbers, etc). This is then followed by a brief instruction period. In the beginning of a unit we work on skills that will be needed in order to successfully participate in a game. This could include throwing, kicking, passing, or any number of skills. Within one to two weeks students are able to confidently participate in games. Aside from the units above, students also play holiday games, engage in choice days, and discuss major sporting events such as March Madness, the Super Bowl, the World Cup, and the Olympics.
