The Syosset High School Writing Center supports writers at all levels and across all disciplines, in a variety of languages, in order to foster literacy skills within differing academic and creative curriculum. One means of accomplishing this is through one-on-one conferencing. The goal of the conferences is to enable students to grow as writers. The Writing Center Fellows use questions and collaboration to help their peers through the various stages of the writing process. The conferencing sessions are interactive exchanges aimed at creating better writers, not merely at creating better pieces of specific writing. Rather than editing and proofreading, the sessions will focus mainly on meaning, development, and organization of ideas. In addition, the SHS Writing Center assists students by collaborating with various classroom teachers and providing ongoing support throughout the year. We offer a range of writing services to help writers with their diverse needs.
