About the Teacher

Who is Mrs. Hernandez?

This is my sixth year teaching at Ustach Middle School, and I love teaching sixth grade! My first career path was in social services, where I spent many years providing support and life-skills services to students in public schools.

I am married and have four beautiful children, two boys and two girls. This year I have one child in College, two in High School and one in Elementary School. This means I have a very busy and fun life!

My hobbies include reading, traveling, movie-watching and walking. I love coffee, spending time on the coast, watching my kids play soccer, Amazon.com, the San Francisco 49ers and yes.... post-it notes! What would I do without them?!? :)

Sixth Grade Rocks!

Sixth grade is a wonderful and transitional year in a child's life. The transition to Middle School is a big one, but by the end of 6th grade my students feel like pros and are ready to move on to 7th grade! I feel privileged to be part of my students' lives during this very important year in their education. In addition to academics, it is an essential year for learning about organization, attention to detail, perseverance and social skills. It is my goal to help them be successful in these areas, as well as Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science, to help their move to 7th grade be as smooth as possible.
