Here are some resources that may assist parents with maintaining productive home working environment for their child.
KINDERGARTEN
Read readers that are provided
Parents read books to children- children draw pictures and write sentences about characters in stories. Practise using descriptive language.
Fine Motor Activities:
Playdough- use to create Magic 100 words, roll to make chocolate chip cookies
Kinetic sand
Lego- smaller pieces
Tennis balls and marbles
Tweezers and split peas
Hole punching paper
(complete the fine motor booklet shared in Term 1 pack - complete extra activities provided in the booklet: cutting, tracing, dot to dot)
Practise letters on whiteboards
Have a parent say a 2, 3 or 4 letter word that can be sounded out and spelled.
Handwriting ( book in Term 2 pack)
Write postcards/ letters to friends and family
Practise letters/sounds ( use letter tiles)
Practise Magic 100 words ( more words provided in Term 2 pack).
Play games such as:
Memory
Snap
Talk, Draw, Write
Make find-a- word
Write from memory on whiteboard and check answers
Time how long it takes them to say all sight words. See if they can beat their record
Write words using play dough
Create books- some children with writing and illustrations, others just with illustrations.
Keep a daily diary or diary entries of things you have done throughout the week.
Print off STEM activities and choose an activity from the grid each day (on google classroom)
Make a board game (Maths, English, general knowledge)

Roll two dice and add or subtract the numbers away from each other
Create an ‘I wish jar’, where you put down something you wish you could do (e.g go for a playdate). Put it in the jar and when isolation is over re look at the jar and do all activities.

Watch favourite movies, draw favourite part/ parts and then write words associated with favourite parts.
Painting
Play Mr Squiggle - get a family member to draw a squiggle on a piece of paper and students turn it into a picture.

Make obstacle course for your family to enjoy
YEAR 1
Get creative with playdough - make spelling words with playdough.
Play with puzzles, blocks and board games, LEGO
Fill up family members' buckets by being kind!
Play some music and dance (google: Just Dance), practise singing
Baking and cooking with a parent
Colouring in, word searches, crosswords
Draw, Talk, Write
Chore time - help your parents do some chores around the house!
Write a letter to someone special
Write poetry
Write a story, staple some paper together to make a book
Read, read, read! Parents ask their children lots of questions about the book. Assist their child in oral language development. Write about the book.

MATHS - Practice counting (practise counting numbers 1-100 forwards and backwards from a given number, counting in 2’s, 5’s, 10’s, arranging 2 digit numbers in order (ascending/descending), work on solving maths addition and subtraction sums, practice recalling the months of the year, seasons, telling the time, sharing a group of objects into equal groups...etc
