While we do have rules governing the way student use the devices at school, we have a focus on making our students responsible digital citizens.

Digital citizenship develops an understanding of the etiquette behind using a Chromebook (and any other connected device) online as a tool as well as keeping themselves safe online.

Our student's safety online is paramount and combined with the vigilance of the classroom teacher as well as parents, Sydney Catholic Schools have a variety of practices that ensuer the online safety of the students whilst at school.

These include:

1. Market leading web content filtering solution that monitors, filters and audits internet usage for all staff and students; 

2. Market leading internet security solution that scans incoming and outgoing data in real-time to protect devices from malware;

3. Forcing Google safesearch and safe browsing; and 

4. Using firewalls to block specific internet traffic to and from schools.

We understand that you have many questions around the chromebooks use at home.  There are many tools available to assist 21st century parents online, but it can often be difficult to find relevant resources.  We have collated a sweries of resources for you, to help you raise a good digital citizen.

Online safety also needs to be reinforced at home. We aim to be a part of a partnership with both parents and students to emphasise the importance of proper care of the Chromebook. We need your support.
