Mrs. Dominik:
I have been in SWSD for twenty-three years and teaching for over thirty years. I am married and have three adult children with whom I am very proud. My husband is a STEM teacher at KRMS and coaches softball. David is an 8th grade Science Teacher (in PA). Kelsey has a Master's degree in Non-Profit Leadership, is a former college softball coach, however, is currently an entrepreneur. My youngest, Danielle, has a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health and Counseling, however is a store manager at a large retail chain. Each of my children had their own "learning challenges", but through hard work and collaboration with their teachers/school, they have been successful. They all played sports at the local, travel, high school and collegiate level and understood what it was to be a student/athlete. I look at your children as an extension of my family and will always push and expect them to do their best, as I did with my own children.
Hi Fourth Graders! I am so excited to be your teacher this year. My name is Jan Hill and this is my tenth year at Harker. I am a graduate of Wilmington University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education Grades K-6 and a TOSD certificate (Teacher of Students with Disabilities) from Rowan University.
When I’m not teaching you can find me with my family! My husband and I have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. My favorite places to be are at the beach or on a mountain top.
I can’t wait to get to know you and have an amazing year together!
In our classroom, we use a combination of rewards.
-Our Marble Jar is a CLASS reward where the class can earn a marble for various reasons. They earn for getting a "punch" during lunch or in special area classes. If they have a collectively, quiet walk transitioning to other places in the building, they will also earn a marble. If all students bring an important paper back or everyone has their homework completed, these would be additional marbles. Having desirable behavior for a substitute is another great way to earn marbles as well. Once the students earn 100 marbles, they will be treated to a movie and snack. The movies we choose carry a lesson along with them, so we assure you our class time is not being wasted.
-Students in our classroom can earn stickers based on desired behaviors, such as getting their agenda signed, completing homework assignments, bringing their Test Envelope back on time, completing Reflex math assignments etc. Each chart they complete, earns them one trip to our Prize Closet. Most students earn at least a couple trips over the course of time (usually two months).
