All About Stellar Comets

The Stratton School uses Stellar Comets as part of Positive Behavior Support in Schools (PBSIS). The program encourages students to demonstrate, promote, and celebrate our students with Comet Pride.

Our PBSIS program allows faculty and staff members to participate by handing out Star Tickets to students who show that they are being safe, respectful, and focusing on themselves. Students can earn Star Tickets for demonstrating positive character traits in the bus lanes, in the hallways, during lunch/recess, and in the classroom, too. Once a week the students' homeroom teacher will pick a name from their bucket of earned star tickets, and that child will have his or her name on the galaxy in the hallway across from the gym. Our students love hearing Principal Boston say their name on the announcements every Monday morning! In addition, Mrs. Boston picks a student each month for the prize wheel. This year, Principal Boston has a goal. She is going to call 20 names over the announcements for Star Ticket Winners! These student names are drawn at random from the magical fish bowl in her office. The students who are chosen are then allowed to receive a prize from the prize wheel. The Stellar Comet, however, is chosen specially by faculty and staff at the Stratton School.

For Stellar Comet, at the end of each month each first, second, and special area teachers chose two students who have shown the six traits of stellar character. These students will receive a certificate with a special note from their teacher, and their picture featured on the Stellar Comets wall. They will also will be recognized at a Board of Education Meeting.
