Dear Families,
We’re excited to share that our class is using HMH Into Reading, a comprehensive literacy program designed to help your child become a confident and successful reader and writer.
Here’s what you need to know:
🔍 What is HMH Into Reading?
HMH Into Reading is a research-based reading and language arts program for Grades K–6. It provides engaging, grade-level texts and targeted instruction to support students at all levels in building strong reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
📘 Key Features of the Program:
Rigorous, engaging texts: Students read high-quality fiction and nonfiction that build vocabulary, knowledge, and comprehension skills.
Explicit phonics instruction: Especially in early grades, phonics and word recognition are systematically taught.
Daily reading and writing practice: Your child will read, write, speak, and listen every day using a variety of texts.
Small-group instruction: Teachers provide additional support based on each student’s reading level and needs.
Vocabulary and comprehension strategies: These are taught and practiced regularly to help students understand and think deeply about what they read.
🤝 How You Can Help at Home:
Read with your child daily and talk about the stories.
Encourage your child to explain what they’ve read.
Practice weekly vocabulary or spelling words.
Ask questions that start with who, what, when, where, why, and how to help deepen understanding.
