Dear Partners in Learning,

As you and your child prepare to spend a fun, relaxing summer together, your sixth-grade team will be working hard to prepare for the next school year.  We are looking forward to an exciting, learning packed year filled with rewarding activities.  Below you will find a list your child will need to have a successful sixth grade year at the Walter Hill School:

Pencil case (zipper style)

Pencils – Erasers - Scissors

Glue stick

  highlighters

post-it notes

12 Count colored pencils

Black Sharpie markers (one fine point and one ultra-fine)

 A folder for each class: Math, Science, ELA, Social Studies 

Social studies= Red

Math= Blue

Science = Yellow

ELA= Green

 A college-ruled spiral notebook w/ pocket for each Math and ELA

Two marble composition books Math only

Loose leaf for folders

Three pocket folders Art, World language, and Music

Earbuds/headphones for classes (no bluetooth connections)

Optional calculator for Math

 All items need to be labeled with your child’s name.  The sixth-grade teachers will instruct the students on how to set up their materials in September.  As supplies run out, you will be notified so that replacements can be purchased. It is strongly recommended that you have a dictionary for at home use.

Due to class size and locker restrictions, no extra large or wheeled book bags can be permitted. There is no place to store them during the day, However students are allowed a tote bag or drawstring bag to carry books and supplies during the school day.

Sixth grade is a year of tremendous growth and development for your child. The sixth-grade team maintains high expectations for this very important year in your child’s school experience as they get ready for Kingsway.  We cannot wait to see you in September.
