I'm Miss Santiago and I've been teaching in the Clifford School for 8 years. Before that, I taught first grade in the Stratton School, so it makes me happy to prepare my students for what I know is coming for them at Stratton.
During the course of the school year, each student in our class will have the opportunity to be "Student of the Week" and will fill out the following questions. I've answered each of the same questions below so you can get to know me a little bit better.
My favorite book is Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
My favorite color is Grey
When I grow up I want to be A Writer
I like to eat Peanut M&Ms, Nutella, Starbucks Coffee
My favorite sport or activity is Yoga, but I'm also a HUGE sports fan (MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA)
My pet (and/or favorite animal) is/Are Panda Bears (Red and Giant) and Donkeys
I am special because I have a big imagination
My favorite movie/TV show is Beauty and the Beast, Hamilton
I am a Disney Lover (Stitch is my favorite and that is why he's our classroom theme) and I can always be found singing along to Disney songs. I've been to Disney World, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Tokyo Disneyland/Sea. I love music and attending concerts - I'm a HUGE fan of the group BTS and their individual members' music. I collect BTS, BT21, and TinyTan everything! I am a big sports fan and love attending live sporting events, and am also known to travel to the city to enjoy a play on Broadway. I also love superheroes (Batman is my favorite) and Star Wars. Reading is one of my favorite things to do - I keep a long TBR (to be read) list and take advantage of local libraries. Teaching little ones is tiring - and I love winding down with a face mask, a snack, and some reality television (and when I'm lucky - a spa visit at Hand and Stone!). I love to laugh and enjoy teaching little ones because they are so excited about the world. I hope getting to know a little bit about me helps you feel connected to our class Ohana!
This year, our class is excited to read with Scholastic Book Clubs! It’s a great way to build up your child’s book collection at home and help them improve their reading skills. Every time you order, your orders earn points I can redeem for books and other classroom supplies we need.
Here’s how it works: I’ll send home flyers throughout the year. If you decide to place an order, you can do that through our class ordering page linked below. All the catalog info is also online. You'll pay on the website, and your books will arrive at school about 10 days after I submit our classroom order. I will provide you info on the monthly order deadlines in your Friday Emails. When books arrive at school I will send them home in your child's backpack.
Books also make great gifts! If you ever make an order that you want to be a surprise - let me know and instead of sending the books home I'll leave them in the office for pick up.
By teaming up with Scholastic, we’ll help your child become a more confident, independent reader—and we’ll build a classroom library all of my students are excited to explore!
