This year, your child will be participating in a classroom that is co-taught. Co-teaching is an approach that involves two certified teachers instructing the same class. Co-teaching allows teachers to better meet the needs of their students by minimizing the student-to-teacher ratio. This year, Mrs. Acquarola will be co-teaching with Mr. Digiacomo.
Several co-teaching approaches may be used throughout a school day, depending on class needs and desired instructional outcomes. For example, one teacher may be teaching the whole group while the other is actively monitoring and assisting students. Sometimes both teachers will be in front of the class sharing instruction. At times, each teacher may be working with a different group of students at the same time, or one teacher may pull a group of students into a separate classroom for a lesson or additional support throughout the day.
Co-teaching is a great way to meet the needs of students who may need extra support and students who may need extra challenges. Mrs. Acquarola and Mr. Digiacomo possess different areas of expertise and will be collaborating with planning, teaching, and grading to ensure all students' needs are met.Â
We are very excited to be working together and are eager for the opportunities that co-teaching will provide our students. If you have any questions about co-teaching, please feel free to contact us. We are looking forward to a wonderful year!
