Hello! My name is Ms. Herbst, and I teach Pre-Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and AP Calculus at Southwestern High School. I am an alumnus of East Dubuque High School, class of 2012, and I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics Education, class of 2015.
My father is a long-time educator who has served in several different capacities within the education system and has left significant impressions on those he has met along the way. This is why I chose education and aspire to be a teacher—to positively impact the lives of those around me, to leave an undeniable impression and understanding that all can succeed.
Along with being a Math Teacher, I am also the LEO Club Advisor and Advisor to the Class of 2020. Also, for the 2018-2019 school year, I have been one of 500 teachers selected to be a Khan Academy Ambassador. More information about Khan Academy and the Ambassador program can be found below.
Besides our class time, I try to be as available as possible for students’ questions. The best times to see me are before school, after school, or during homeroom. I am usually in my classroom by 7:45 AM and I typically leave around 3:45 PM. Please feel free to stop by if you have any questions or if you would like some extra help! If you cannot make it at one of these times, please contact me to schedule another time that will work with both of our schedules.
