Goals and Outcomes of my class: My goal is to make sure that each student has the opportunity to try and participate in new activities. Each student should be able to explain the game to other students in the class along with being able to participate with the rules that are given to them. I want all my students to know and understand each activity that we are doing in class, so then when they are out of school they can do that activity correctly. With my students understanding the rules of the games, I want them to be able to leave my class knowing how to be a good teammate and how to have good sportsmanship. We have gone over what it looks like to be a good teammate and to have good sportsmanship along with what both should sound like in the gym!
Expectations:
Safety in the gym is my #1 expectation of students, which means they are following the rules of the games and participating the correct way during activities.
All students must have gym shoes (tennis shoes) so they can fully participate in the activities that we are doing!
Students must give their best effort in class, even if they think they cannot do something, because they all can!
Being good teammates!
Having good sportsmanship, whether they win or lose!
Helping one another if they aren't sure of the rules of the activities.
5th- 8th Grade must change into gym clothes this year!
What we are working on right now in class:
I can demonstrate motor skills and movement patterns needed to preform an activity
I can follow rules, procedures and safe practices while working independently or with others.
Pre-K to 3rd Grade we are focusing on the different movement skills needed in many different activities. We spend time explaining and learning and most importantly doing the different movements. In class right now we are focusing on how to throw and catch a ball. We are doing many partner activities which is also working on how to work with others.
4th-8th Grade we have gone over the techniques of how to throw and catch a ball. But we have been focusing on how to work with others and learning the rules of the game. In class we are playing flag football and it has been fun to see the students that are very excited about football help the student that aren't really sure how to play.
