Happy Friday! We had an awesome week!

Please continue to check folders and sign planners each night. Reading Logs are due on Monday.
They got their first set of spelling words today. You can find them written out in their planners and posted on Seesaw. They also have spelling notebooks that should be used to study. The first test will be on Friday, September 12th.
Picture day is on Wednesday, September 10th. Forms were sent home earlier this week. Students may be out of uniform that day.
We won the gold medal for collecting marathon money this week! That means 3rd grade gets to be out of uniform on Monday, September 8th! I will send another reminder on Sunday night. Thanks for all your donations so far!

Hello and welcome to 3rd grade! We had a great first week!

Please check folders and sign planners each night. This year, homework will consist of daily math assignments, a weekly reading log and spelling words to study. We will hit the ground running next week!
Be sure to be checking Seesaw, as I will be using it to post many photos and reminders throughout the year. It should be up and running, but please let me know if you have any issues seeing the content. I will also be updating our class page every Friday.

I can't believe we only have one more week left of school! What a great year it has been!

Please check folders for NWEA scores. They were sent home this afternoon. Report cards will be posted on Sycamore next week.
I need to have all prayer testing done by Monday. Please practice with your kids at home this weekend. Thank you!
I would love to be pen pals with your kiddos this summer! Please check folders tonight for more information! I also attached some writing paper, cards and stamps to get them started. I can't wait!
We will have a picnic on the last day and will be playing outside here at school all afternoon. Please make sure you send sunscreen if you want your child to use it.

Happy Friday!

Monday (5/12) is Field Day. Kids may be out of uniform and instead wear Family Group colors.
Tuesday (5/13) is the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima. Please send your kids to school in their Feast Day Uniform (white polo, etc.).
Wednesday is Move Up Day. The 3rd graders will get to go up and preview 4th grade in the morning!
They got new spelling words today. Their last test of the year will be on Friday (5/16).
I am going to start prayer testing on Monday. There are still a lot of kids that need to memorize the Act of Contrition and Prayer to the Holy Spirit. Please help your kiddos practice at home. Click on the "Prayers" tab for the full list of prayers that they need memorized.
We started our countdown to summer today. Each day we will get to do a fun activity. I will be posting all the photos on Seesaw!

What a great week! Thanks to everyone who came to the Rosary/Concert. The kids were GREAT!! They also did a really nice job leading mass on Wednesday!

On Monday (5/5) our class gets to be out of uniform! One of our parents won this at the Starry Night! We will also be getting a class ice cream party later this year too! Thanks, parents!!
We have our Language NWEA test on Tuesday (5/6) after breakfast.

Happy Friday!

The kids did great on their NWEA math test! We will be taking the reading test on Tuesday (4/29) after breakfast.
3rd grade will be leading mass on Wednesday (4/30). Please help your child practice their speaking parts at home this weekend.
Our Spring Concert is on Thursday (5/1). We will have a performance at 10:00 following the Living Rosary at 9:00. Both events will be held in the church. Our 2nd performance is at 6:30 that evening. Please have your child dress their best (out of uniform) for both concerts. We will be meeting in our classroom at 6:00 before our evening performance. That is also where you will pick your child up afterwards. Let me know if you have any questions!

We had a great day at the Science Museum!! I posted some fun photos on Seesaw. Make sure to check them out!
We will be extending the "Adopt a Peep" project until Easter break. Please have the kids take care of their peeps this weekend and bring them back to school on Monday. They will be able to spend their money at the "Hop Shop" on Tuesday. Please continue to send me pictures! They have been so fun to see and share with the kids!
We will not have spelling next week. Their next test will be on April 25th.

On Friday, we will be going on our field trip to the Science Museum. Please send back permission forms as soon as possible. If you need another copy, please let me know!
I haven't told the kids yet, but on Monday we will be starting an "Adopt a Peep" project. The kids will be responsible for taking care of a peep all week long. They will need to bring it home each night and back to school every morning. More details to come on Monday. It's going to be a lot of fun!!

Happy Spring Break!

We filled out March Madness Brackets this week. A copy of their bracket was sent home in case they want to watch the games/follow along over break!
I also sent home an optional reading log for the students over break. If they track their minutes and bring it back on the 31st, they will earn a prize!
Our class started the Kids Heart Challenge in Phy Ed this week. Please see email for more details on how to get registered!
We are collecting personal care items for the Peace Center. Please send all donations in by April 11. Thank you!
There will be a book fair at school from April 4th-9th. The kids will be able to go during library that week and it will also be open after Mass on the 6th.
We took our spelling tests today, but will not get new words until we come back from break.
We have our next field trip scheduled for Friday, April 11th. We will be going to the Science Museum. Permission slips will be sent home shortly after the kids return from break.

One more week before spring break!!

The Starry Night event is tomorrow night. The students made lists of the items they'd like for you to bid on. These lists were sent home today in their folders! There are a lot of fun things to bid on this year, including class pizza and ice cream parties, art projects, etc. I am offering family photo sessions that you can bid on as well!
Monday (3/17) is St. Patrick's Day. Students may dress out of uniform and instead wear green.
We will be finishing Unit 4 in math next week. We will have our test on Friday. Study guides will be sent home on Thursday.
On Friday (3/21) kids may wear crazy socks with their uniforms in support of World Down Syndrome Day.

We do not have school on Monday, March 10th. It is a teacher workshop day.
Just a heads up that math is starting to get pretty tough - we are doing elapsed time word problems next week. Please expect homework, as it may get harder for them to finish it all at school.

Our next Feast Day is on Tuesday, Feb. 11th. Please send your child to school in their Feast Day Uniform (white polos, etc.)
We will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Friday, Feb. 14th. Students may dress out of uniform and instead wear red and pink. We will also be exchanging Valentines/treats. This is totally optional. We have 15 kids in our class. Students can bring in a Valentine box if they want. Otherwise, they will decorate a bag at school.

The Catholic Schools Week Committee is looking for parent volunteers to supervise the students in the gym during an all school movie on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 12pm-2pm. Happy Friday!

Catholic Schools Week is January 26th-31st. We have lots of fun activities planned (see email for all the details). We will be going on a couple field trips and permission slips were sent home in folders today. Please return those as soon as possible. One of the dress-up days will be Family Group colors. There is a slip in your child's folder that shows what color they should wear.
We will also be having a K-8 Talent Show that week. If your child is interested in performing, please reach out or have your child let me know. They will need to audition in the next couple week.s. Just a heads up that only two 3rd grade performances will be chosen. Thanks!
Just a reminder to please send all snow gear for recess each day. If your child does not have snow pants, boots, hats, etc. they will not be able to go outside.

Report cards are due in a few weeks. We do not have any new prayers this year, but students still need to have all of the second grade prayers memorized to get a 3. Please practice these at home this month (especially the Act of Contrition and Prayer to the Holy Spirit). Click on the "Prayers" tab to see a list of all the prayers.
We got new spelling words today. Our next test will be on Friday, Jan. 10th. We will also start reading logs back up again on Monday.

Hello! One more week before Christmas break!

Monday, Dec. 16th is Pajama Day!
Our concert is on Tuesday, Dec. 17th. We will have a performance at 12:30 and again at 6:30 that evening. Please have your child dress up (out of uniform) for both concerts. We will be meeting in our classroom at 6:00 before our evening performance. That is also where you will pick your child up afterwards.
Friday Dec. 20th is also an out of uniform day. The students instead may wear a Christmas sweater or green and red.
We will have a spelling test next Friday, but I will not give out a new reading log until after break.
Some special gifts were sent home today. Please remind your child to put them somewhere safe (under the tree, etc.) until Christmas!

We had another great week in 3rd Grade!!

On Monday (11/18), we will be taking our unit 2 math test. Study guides were sent home this afternoon. Please help your child study this weekend - it will be a tough test!

We have a new photo wall in our classroom. The kids had a fun idea to bring in photos from home! If your child would like to bring in a photo to display in our room, they may do so! This could be a family photo, a favorite sport or activity, pets, etc.
Our next spelling test will be on Friday (11/22). After that, we will not test again until December 6th. Please continue to help your child study their words/sorts at home. If they get 5 or more wrong, they have to fix it at Free Choice. This happened to quite a few of my students today. Thanks for your help!!

We had a great week in 3rd grade!!

We will be going to the Rosary Pilgrimage at the St. Paul Cathedral on Monday. Please send your child to school in their Feast Day uniforms (white polo, dress shoes, etc.) Please also have your child bring a rosary to school (if they have one).
We finished our first math unit this week. The kids are loving multiplication! We will review on Tuesday and test on Wednesday.
We will be starting a really fun Flat Stanley project next week! All the information regarding this was sent home today. Please check your child's folder!

Our school marathon is tomorrow! We will start with mass at 8:00 to celebrate the feast day of St. Wenceslaus! Everyone is welcome to join! After mass, we will head outside for the marathon. The 2nd graders did such an amazing job leading mass on Wednesday! Congratulations again to all those who received their First Communion last weekend!
On Monday the students can be out of dress code and wear RED to support a school family who recently had a baby who was born with some heart problems.
On Tuesday they will wear their family group color for field day.
We are learning about habitats in science class. The students have an option of making a poster about a habitat that is very different from habitats in MN. They can make/draw a list of animals and plants that live in that habitat. This is optional!
If you have an ice cream bucket and/or old rags lying around that we can use to clean the classroom-please send them in! We will send them back home when we are done cleaning.
There will be no spelling test next week. Next week's Bible verse: "There will be great joy for those who are ready and waiting for His return." Luke 12:37

Thanks for an AMAZING school year! I am heading on maternity leave and Mrs. Becky Smisek will be taking my place for the remainder of the year!

Wednesday, May 8th is our second grade mass. They should wear their First Communion clothes. If they are not receiving their First Communion, they should still dress their best! Congratulations to all the kids receiving their First Communion this weekend! I'm so excited for them!

Thursday, May 2nd is the spring concert. We will have the living rosary that morning at 9:00. After the rosary, guests will go to the gym for coffee. The students will go back to their classrooms to get ready for the concert. The concert starts at 10:00. The evening concert will be at 6:30.

We had a great day today at the Museum of Illusions! I posted lots of photos on Seesaw! Be sure to take a look!
On Thursday (4/18) the students may wear blue for Autism awareness.
We also have a really fun surprise planned for the 2nd graders on Thursday (4/18). They should bring pillows, blankets, and a flashlight on that day!
Our First Communion retreat is on April 20th. First Communion is on May 4th and 5th.
Thursday, May 2nd is the spring concert. We will have the living rosary that morning at 9:00. After the rosary, guests will go to the gym for coffee. The students will go back to their classrooms to get ready for the concert. The concert starts at 10:00. The evening concert will be at 6:30 in the evening.
Wednesday, May 8th is our second grade mass. They should wear their First Communion clothes. They can bring clothes to change into after Mass. If they are not receiving their First Communion, they should dress their best!
I will be starting my maternity leave on Monday, May 6th and the kids will have a sub for the remainder of the year. I'm starting to get sad that our time together is coming to an end. This has been such a fun year with a great group of kids!

One more week before Spring Break!

The Starry Night Auction is tomorrow night. The students made lists of the items they'd like for you to bid on. These lists were sent home today in their folders! There are a lot of fun things to bid on this year, including our class pickle ball set, class pizza and ice cream parties, art projects, etc. I am also offering a family photo session that you can bid on as well!
We are still collecting personal care items for the Peace Center. Please send those in by March 20. Thank you!

Happy Friday! It was great to see you all at conferences!

Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday, March 11.
We will be going to Reconciliation on Tuesday and will review how to go to Reconciliation beforehand. We will be going to mass on both Wednesday and Friday next week. That means that students need to be in their best school uniform on Wednesday and Friday. They can wear green/be out of uniform on Thursday instead.
Some of the kids were so excited about the I love to read month challenge that they asked for another one! We sent home an optional reading challenge for the month of March.

Due to Ash Wednesday being on the 14th, We will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Tuesday, Feb. 13th. Students may dress out of uniform that day and wear pink, red, or white! They may also bring treats to share. We have 16 students in our class. Please make sure your child is wearing their best mass uniforms for Wednesday.

We had an AWESOME Catholic Schools Week! Skating, bowling, meeting with family groups, watching the teachers vs 8th graders volleyball game, special guest day, etc. Be sure to check out Seesaw, for all the photos I took throughout the week! In February, we are doing a fun reading challenge. The sheets were sent home today in folders. At the end of the month once it's all completed, please sign and send back to school!
I'm still looking for any parents, grandparents, siblings, etc. that are interested in being Mystery Readers this month. Please reach out and we can set up a date! The kids are super excited about this!
Starting on Monday, students may purchase Wonka Bars. They cost $1 and some have Golden Tickets in them where they can choose prizes including Out of Uniform Passes, free admission to the play, etc.
Next Friday (2/9) the students can bring a stuffed animal from home to read with.

Catholic Schools Week kicks off on Sunday with mass and a pancake breakfast! Thanks to those who have signed up to sing at our 8:30 mass. Please drop your child off in the music room at 7:45 that morning. They will warm up and together head over to mass. After mass, please also pick your child up from the music room. Students should be dressed in their best school uniform (polos with new logo) for mass. Thanks!
Monday is Tie Dye vs. Hawaiian Day. Please be checking seesaw throughout the week, as I will be posting photos and dress up day reminders.
We will be going to Skateville on Friday and I understand that a lot 2nd graders don't know how to skate. There will be SkateMates (walker like helpers) available to rent for $5. You can send the money with your child day of.
Students will get new spelling words today, however we will not test again until Friday, Feb. 9th.
We are collecting money for our class basket/item for the auction. The committee is requesting that each child brings in $5-10. We will decide on an item or type of basket as a class. THANK YOU!!
The month of February is I Love to Read month! We have lots of fun activities this month:

We finished our NWEA tests this week. Some of the second graders will receive the sacrament of Reconciliation this weekend. They are ready!! We also wrapped up our first semester. Report cards will be mailed home. The rubric for the report cards can be found on the "Home" tab of our webpage.

Field trip forms for CSW are going home today. They will be going bowling and to Skateville. Please check for these and send them back with your child.

We are collecting money to purchase a class donation for the silent auction. The committee is asking that each child brings in $5-$10 in by the first week of February. We will decide as a class on what items we want to purchase with the money for the auction.

January 17 or 23 – First Eucharist Parent Meetings- parents must attend one 6:15-7:30 in the Faith Formation Office

Please send all winter gear every day with your child. They will not be able to go outside without jackets, boots, snow pants, hats and gloves.

We have been working hard preparing for our First Reconciliation. Father Gifford came in today to talk with us about it and answer any questions that the students had. Just a reminder that there is a Reconcilation retreat on January 10 from 6-7:30. First Reconciliation is on January 13. They are ready!
We will take our Reading NWEA tests on Thursday after breakfast. They did really well on their math NWEA this week!

Happy Friday! One more week before Christmas break!

We will have Pajama Day on Monday (12-18). Students may bring an extra snack that day as well.
Our concert is on Tuesday (12-19). We will have a performance at 12:30 and again at 6:30 that evening. Please have your child dress up (no jeans please) for both concerts. We will be meeting in our classroom at 6:00 before our evening performance. That is also where you will pick your child up afterwards.
On Thursday (12-21) students may be out of uniform and instead wear green and red. We will make ginger bread stables, watch a Christmas movie and have a hot chocolate bar. It is going to be a great day!

Happy December!

We will be having mass on Friday, Dec. 8th instead of Wednesday, Dec 6th. This is to celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Please make sure students are dressed in their nice school uniforms on Friday.
Our class will be going to the Santa's Secret Shop on Thursday, Dec. 7th. Flyers were sent home earlier this week. Please fill out the planning sheet and send in money with your child by then.
Please check folders tonight for Math homework to complete over the weekend. Please remind your child to fill out their Lifebooks every weekend as well.
It is starting to get cold out, so please make sure to start sending snow pants, boots, hats, gloves and jackets with your child every day. Students will not be allowed to go out for recess if they do not have all of these items on.

Halloween math centers!

Hello!

On Halloween (Tuesday), students can wear orange and black to school instead of their uniforms. We will be having a school dance in the afternoon from 1-2pm. Everyone can bring their costumes to change into for the dance. Parents are welcome to come as well. Please check in at the front office!
The students were given new spelling words today, but we will not have a test next week. Our next spelling test will be on Friday, Nov. 10th. There will also be no bible verse to memorize next week.

Field Trip to The Works Museum!

Tomorrow night (10-7) the 2nd and 3rd graders will be singing at the school reunion. Please enter through the clubhouse doors and get here between 6:45-7. Please also have your child wear their best school uniform. It's going to be great - I look forward to hearing them sing!
We have our field trip on Thursday (10-12). Please send your child to school in their normal school uniforms that day. Also, please remember to send a lunch if you indicated on the form that your child would bring a lunch from home. Let me know if you can't remember what you put!

Hello!

We had such a fun week! Please check "photos" tab for pictures of pajamas, camping and field day! I have been posting them on Seesaw as well!
Students may be out of uniform this week to celebrate the last week of school! Mass will be on Thursday instead of Wednesday, so please make sure they are dressed appropriately for that!
I can't believe there are only 4 days left of school! I am sure going to miss these kids! It has been a wonderful year!

We have had a great couple of weeks! We celebrated St. Patrick's Day, spent time with our 6th grade buddies and made volcanoes in Stem! We even went outside and solved math equations with chalk! All the photos were posted on Seesaw.

Happy Friday!

Students are allowed to be out of uniform on Valentine's day (Tuesday). Instead, they can wear red, pink and white. Everyone is welcome to make Valentine's for the class if they would like. We have 13 students.
We will be meeting with our 6th Grade buddies on Monday. The students are allowed to bring a Valentine's treat for them as well!
We are starting to run low on pencils! If you have any you would like to donate, that would be much appreciated! You could even just send a couple for your child to put in their pencil box. Thank you!!
We have been loving having our Mystery Readers! Please send me an email if you would like to come and read to our class.

For the past couple of weeks, we have been writing compliments to a different classmate each day! It has been such a great way to start our mornings and learn about kindness. I can't wait to send these home for you to see all the sweet things said about your child!

We had SO much fun celebrating Catholic Schools Week!!

We will be taking our Unit 4 math test on Monday. Study guides were sent home today - please look over these with your child this weekend.
I'm still looking for any parents, grandparents, siblings, etc. that are interested in being Mystery Readers this month. Please reach out and we can set up a date! The kids are super excited about this!

Hello!

Catholic Schools Week begins Sunday morning. Please join us for mass at 8:30 or 10:30 followed by a pancake breakfast! Please have your child wear school uniform or black marathon shirt to mass.
We will be going bowling on Wednesday. Since that day is "Dress Your Best", your child is allowed to bring comfy clothes to change into later.
We will be going to Skateville on Friday and I understand that a lot 2nd graders don't know how to skate. There will be SkateMates (walker like helpers) available to rent for $5. You can send the money with your child day of.
February book orders were sent home with your child today. They will be due next Friday. You can order online with our class code Z2XVL.

Happy Friday!

We are starting our Respect Life unit. 2nd grade will be focusing on the elderly. Please check planners for their first activity - writing a kind letter to an elderly person. Please help your child complete and mail/deliver it to the person that they choose!
NWEA testing will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday next week. I can't wait to see their growth!

Happy New Year!

it was great to be back at school for a couple of days! Here are a few reminders going into next week:

Wednesday (1/11) is our Reconciliation retreat. This will be held in the church basement from 6:00-7:30 pm. This is required for all students receiving their First Reconciliation this month.
We will be prayer testing next week before report cards come out. Please be studying the Act of Contrition with your child at home. This is an important prayer to know for Reconciliation!
Book orders are due next Friday (1/13). Flyers were sent home today. Please order online with our class code Z2XVL.

Happy Friday! One more week before Christmas break!

Tuesday (12/20) is our school Christmas concert in the church. They will perform at 1:00 and then again at 6:30. Please have your child dress up (no jeans please) for both concerts. They do not need to be in uniform that day.

We had a great week in second grade!

Our class will be singing in mass on Thursday Dec. 8th, as the other second grade class leads. Everyone is welcome to join us at 8:00 on Thursday morning.
We will also be going to the Santa Secret Shop on Thursday (12/8). This is a chance for your kiddos to purchase gifts for their family members. Forms/planning sheets were sent home earlier this week.
Please continue to check folders/sign planners each night. Students are expected to study for their spelling tests and memorize a bible verse every week. Please help them with this!
Friday is crazy sock/headwear day!

We had a great week in 2nd grade!

A few things to keep in mind for Halloween on Monday:

Students will not need to be in uniform. Instead, they may wear orange or black. They will be able to change into costumes in the afternoon, so please do not send your child to school wearing their costume.
The Halloween dance is from 1:00-2:00 in the gym. Please check in at the office if you plan to attend.
Students may bring treats to share with the class (optional).

Because of conferences, we will not be having a spelling test next week. They will be tested on their new words November 11th. If you have any questions, please let me know! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at conferences!

Our 6th grade buddies made Halloween games for us to play today! It was a blast! I posted all the photos on Seesaw.

We had a busy week in 2nd grade! Our marathon was a huge success! I'm SO proud of all your kiddos! Thanks for coming and supporting our school! This week we took the Math and Reading NWEA tests. We will test again in the winter and in the spring. We also finished our first unit in math and will assess and move on to unit 2 next week.

9-30-22

We had a great week in 2nd grade! We learned all about landscapes and made models of the school grounds in the stem lab. We also learned about St. Wenceslaus and celebrated his feast day on Wednesday. We ended the week by watching the homecoming parade!

We have been working SO hard in math and learning how to solve two step story problems. As this unit becomes a bit more challenging, please make sure to check folders for unfinished math homework and help your child complete it.

Our school marathon is tomorrow morning. I hope to see you all there!
