NW Early College High School
Welcome
Welcome to the Southwest Preparatory School NW Early College High School virtual school site. We are excited to start the new school year. Our staff have been working all summer to prepare for an engaging 2021-2022 school year.
Letter from Mrs. Carr
It is with great pleasure that I welcome all parents and students to the Northwest Early College High School Family. Our district mission has always been to provide an adaptive and effective learning environment that prepares students to succeed in the workplace and/or college; we are committed to continuing this mission as we transition to on campus learning.
The Northwest Campus has undergone a huge transformation in the last 6 years from being a drop out recovery program to a fully functioning Early College High School on a university campus! This means your student has an opportunity to earn up to 60 hours of college credit for free! We hope that you and your student are as excited about the benefits of an Early College High School as we are. We are excited to start the new school year and look forward to seeing you. Remember Southwest Preparatory School is where students come for an education, and leave with a future. On behalf of the faculty and staff, we welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year.

Good afternoon Parents and Guardians,
We have officially began registering students for the Spring semester at Texas A&M University. Your student should have completed the Apply Texas for Spring 2022 as well as brought home various forms that needed to be completed by a parent. One of the last steps your student needs to complete is getting the Bacterial Meningitis shot. This vaccine is a requirement to attend class in the Spring. This shot can be found at any pharmacy, most Dr.'s offices, community clinics and at Incarnate Word Nursing School. Please have your student bring proof of the vaccine to school, and we will help them complete the last step.
We are very excited to offer this opportunity to your student.

Good afternoon Parents and Guardians,
We have officially closed out August and are moving into the exciting month of September. We would like to share with you a few things the students can look forward to for this upcoming month. We would also like for you to keep an eye out for your child’s first progress report of the year.
During this month, we will be celebrating the core value of Patriotism. Students will be participating in activities and demonstrations around what it means to be a Patriot. On Friday September 10, 2021, we will be honoring those we lost on September 11 on and celebrating our Constitution on Constitution Day September 17,, 2021.
Suicide Prevention Day is September 9, 2021. We are asking the students to wear red and will be sharing resources with them. We would also like you to know that all school ID cards have the National Suicide Number printed on the back.
The first week of September we will be educating students on the dangers and consequences of e-cigarettes and vaping. We will also share with you some resources and encourage you to continue the conversation at home. This also serves as a friendly reminder the district has a zero tolerance policy for all tobacco, drug, and alcohol incidents.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns and we wish you a safe and happy Labor Day weekend.

Greetings Early College High School Parents,
I hope you and your family are getting some much needed rest over the summer. Many exciting things have been happening at the Northwest Campus; such as continued improvements to the campus as we prepare for our students to return. Three years ago, we established a partnership with Texas A&M University San Antonio to provide dual credit and early college opportunities to our students. We have continued to collaborate with TAMUSA and grow our partnership to be able to offer these opportunities to more students. Our program has had such tremendous success that TAMUSA is expanding our space on campus to include several classrooms and offices. It is with great excitement that we celebrate with you, starting August 2020 we expanded the college experience to ALL 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. This means that any student who is enrolled in 10th -12th grade will attend our satellite campus on the TAMUSA property located at One University Way. Your student will still receive their high school education from Southwest Preparatory staff, but now have the opportunity of experiencing a university campus. Listed below are some of the benefits of attending an Early College High School.
Both high school and college classes are free – Southwest Preparatory Northwest Early College High School covers all cost associated with college classes such as tuition, book and testing fees.
Students save time and money– completing college class while in high school can save students up to 2 years of college tuition.
Students learn skills to ensure they are successful at college and beyond. Statistically students who participate in college programs in high school are more likely to attend and obtain college degrees that will help students as adult have more economic opportunities and higher standards of living.
