EMT prepares students for emergency situations. EMTs work in Emergency Departments, ambulances, and at events. Many law enforcement officers and firefighters are also trained to the EMT level. EMT is the prerequisite for entering a paramedic program.
Our EMT program is a continuation of our EMR class. We require students to have emergency medical training before entering our EMT semester. This usually happens by students taking EMR in the Fall and continuing into EMT in the Spring (or EMR 1st Trimester and EMT 2nd and 3rd Tri).
EMT is offered Spring semester during our first, second, and third blocks (hours 1-2, 3-4, and 6-7 for most of our students) in Shakopee and 2nd and 3rd trimesters in Waconia.
EMT is also offered as a Summer hybrid class where students learn the information on their own and come together to learn skills and do scenarios.
This year we have started an EMT Night course for members of our community.
