Simply taking the TSI test once makes a student eligible to enter college. Schools need to measure your college readiness level to decide what your beginner Math and English college courses should be.
Passing the TSI test is important for all who seek to earn college credit.
The following are all common reasons that students try to pass the TSI test before senior graduation:
To prepare for your first semester in college/university
To enter Early College High School
To enter Alamo Academies
To enter a dual credit course
Students who have met the following requirements are exempt.
Met the minimum college readiness standard on the:
SAT, Reading & Writing - 480, Math - 530
ACT, English & Reading - 40, Math - 22
Earned credit for specific English and math intensive dual credit courses.

The math section of the TSI test covers:
Quantitative Reasoning (Number Theory)
Algebraic Reasoning (Algebra I & II)
Geometric & Spatial Reasoning (Geometry)
Statistical & Probabilistic Reasoning (Middle-school level probability)
ELAR
The ELAR section of the TSI test covers
Literary & Informational Text Analysis and Synthesis (Reading)
Essay & Sentence Revision & Editing (Writing)
Essay Writing (Persuasive Essay)
