Mindful Mondays

It is important that you take a few minutes every day to do something that is just for you. During this time you are simply enjoying a bit of tranquility. I have taken the following exercises from:

FINDING YOUR YOGA SEAT

Find a seating position that feels comfortable for you to sit in for a while. This can be on a chair on a yoga mat or on the floor. Be sure that you can sit up tall in this position.
As you sit down focus on what your body is doing. Is it leaning to one side or forward or backward? Are you comforatable in this position? Now try moving your legs or feet into a different position.
Once you have settled into your new position sit up tall again. Imagine what your body would feel like if your proud and relaxed at the same time. Every time you sit in your yoga seat find this feeling and take a few steady breaths.

Mindful Tech

What role does technology play in your life? Do you ever think about how your cell phone makes you feel or what impact it has on you? That is what we will explore in this activity.
Find your yoga seat and sit nice and tall. Take your phone in your hand but don't use it... simply look at it in your hands...take a couple of breaths.How does it feel in your hands? Do any thoughts related to your phone come to mind? Do you feel anything in any part of your body?
Now go to your text messages but do not read them... take a couple of breaths as you scroll through messages...do any thoughts come to mind? Are there any emotions that you are feeling because of the messages on your phone? Do you feel anything in any part of your body?
Close the text app and take a couple of breaths.
Now open one of your social media apps and scroll through without interacting with the app...take a couple of breaths. Do any thoughts come to mind? Are there any emotions that you are feeling because of what you see on the app? Do you feel anything in any part of your body?
Now place your phone down..take a few breaths. Has anything changed since the start of this activity?
As you go through your day consider taking a few breaths before you use your phone. Be mindful of what you are thinking and feeling before you call, text, or post.
