George Tullos is a retired band director with 33 years of distinguished service in music education. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from UTSA and a Master’s in Education from Grand Canyon University. Mr. Tullos began his career in 1991 in San Benito, Texas, and later served in the San Antonio Independent School District, including 27 years as Director of Bands at Longfellow Middle School. Under his leadership, the Longfellow Band earned 22 consecutive UIL Sweepstakes Awards, receiving superior ratings on stage every year. Throughout his career, Mr. Tullos and his ensembles earned numerous Outstanding and Exceptional Musicianship, Best in Class, and Best in Festival honors at competitions across Texas. In 2020, he and the Longfellow Band presented a clinic at TMEA titled “Urban Schools: Blueprint for Success in Inner City Schools—The Four Keys to Program Success.” Among his many professional accomplishments, Mr. Tullos was honored with the SAISD Excell Award in 2009. He retired from public education in 2024.
