SAWS offers the Affordability Discount to its low-income residential customers.

The amount of discount a customer receives can range up to $21.40 per month.

To request a discount application by mail, a customer must contact SAWS by calling 210-233-CARE (2273).

Here’s a resource especially for you. The YWCA is offering groups on resources in the community, financial stress, legal issues, behavior issues and many other issues grandparents may experience. The groups meet monthly. For more information, call 210-559-0287.

Homeless Prevention Services

SAMMinistries’ Homeless Prevention Services provides rental assistance, utility assistance and supportive services to individuals and families who are in imminent danger of eviction, or are currently homeless.

Homeless Prevention Services Provide

  • Temporary rental, utility, or other critical assistance
  • Supportive services
  • Payments are not made directly to participant

Applicant Eligibility

  • Homeless or in imminent risk of being homeless
  • Current eviction notice (rent) or disconnection notice (utilities)
  • Must have some form of stable income (SSI, SSDI, employment, etc…)
