Middle School students meet for TAG 1-2 times per week. They work on projects in areas of interest. They practice and develop skills necessary for the future, such as creativity and STEAM.
5th Grade: 5th-grade students meet once a week and start the year working on a book project. Each student selected a book to read and analyze. When finished, they will write a script for a book trailer and record and edit it to share with others. They are working on their reading comprehension and technology skills with this project. In the second semester, they are working on a community service project. They are making suncatchers and will deliver them around the community to spread spring joy!
6th Grade: 6th graders meet once a week and start the year working on a time travel project. They research elements of time and whether time travel is possible. They designed and created a time machine presentation to pitch to investors, trying to receive funding to build their machines. This project is working on their scientific thinking and creativity skills. In the second semester, they are creating their own board games. They have to think about themes, rules, sequence, and logistics.
7th Grade: 7th grade spent first semester on creating their own sports franchise, including creating a pitch to get funding. Then, they did some research about their future. They researched future careers and colleges and looked at the cost and requirements for those programs. Plastic Straw Bridges
Students designed and created bridges from only plastic straws and hot glue. The goal was to hold 2 pounds of weight, and all succeded!
8th Grade: 8th graders started the year doing the egg drop challenge. In the 2nd quarter, they researched and designed their own sneaker, focusing on the anatomy of the foot and the shoe's function. Second semester, they are doing individual passion projects, researching/creating something they're interested in, or learning a new skill.
