Dear Rancho Del Rey, Middle School Families,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I am honored to welcome you on behalf of our staff to the Home of the Mighty Royals!
As Rancho Del Rey’s principal, I look forward to connecting with all families and students. I am committed to promoting a safe and productive school environment for your child. Rancho Del Rey has a long tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, and visual and performing arts. It is a privilege to serve this community.
Our school mission is to sustain an innovative learning community that celebrates a diverse student body that focuses on ensuring excellence in teaching and learning, maintaining a culture of equity, fostering parent engagement, and maximizing our resources to promote these goals.

This is the link to our Student Behavior Expectations Presentation. We went over this with our students for the past three days. Please review these slides with our student(s) and be sure to emphasize the importance of following these simple policies and procedures.

Counselors will only do changes until August 6. Counselors WILL NOT make changes to periods or teacher changes. Changes will only be made to elective classes or level changes (in/out of accelerated classes), these changes can only be made if there is room in those classes. The BEST way to get in touch with your counselor is at Nutrition Break or to email them through Jupiter Grades. Counselors are NOT available during lunch.
RDR Policy per our Student/Parent Handbook
VISITORS/PARENTS: For student safety, all visitors are required by law to check in with the main office upon entering and leaving the campus. Those wishing to visit classrooms must have prior approval from the administration and obtain a visitor’s pass from the main office. Only those individuals with valid photo identification designated as authorized contacts may be given access to students.
A friendly reminder that we have a school policy in place that prohibits receiving outside food for your child. If your child forgets their lunch, we have free food available in the cafeteria for them.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to school policies.
We understand everyone is eager to register and clear for Fall Sports and other sports too. At this time, the district is building a new registration system and it is not ready to be launched. When we have the new system ready, we will email you a notification of where to register and try out dates for all our Fall sports. Thank you for your patience.

The San Diego County Office of Education and Computers2Kids are hosting an event for families to purchase affordable computers on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the San Ysidro Adult School Parking Lot located at 4220 Otay Mesa Rd. San Diego, CA 92154 (Drive Thru Event).
