Hi Mariners!
My name is Mrs. Borquez and I am the Health teacher here at Mar Vista High as well as the coordinator of the before and after school program. I was born and raised in Chula Vista and graduated from Hilltop High School in 1994! I attended SDSU and majored in Health Science. After a 15 year career in Public Health, I decided to become a teacher. I earned my Masters degree in Education. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with family & friends, attending church, supporting my local Little League, singing Karaoke, relaxing pool days, traveling, going to concerts, riding bikes, watching movies and making memories with my husband and kids. I love life, having fun, spreading joy and making every day count! 🌻

Hola, Hello, Kumusta!
If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I believe in bringing good energy wherever I go. My name is Natalio Reyes, and I’m honored to be the new Site Supervisor here at Mar Vista High School. As a proud Sweetwater High School graduate from the Class of 2014, it feels amazing to now be part of the Mariners family and give back to a community that has seen me growth. I would describe myself as energetic, authentic, spontaneous, and always ready to make someone laugh. I truly believe that positivity is contagious, and I plan to spread plenty of it around campus. Outside of work, I’m someone who doesn’t like to sit still. You’ll find me at the beach, enjoying coffee, listening to music, reading, or dancing, which has been one of my biggest passions since 2013. Through folklórico, hip hop, salsa, bachata, you name it, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to share the stage as a backup dancer for artists like Inigo Pascual, Mariachi Sol de México, and Lila Downs. Those experiences taught me confidence, discipline, and the power of teamwork. I’m also working toward becoming a veterinary assistant and plan to attend Southwestern College, because I believe learning never stops. Most importantly, I’m always happy to help, always open to learning from others, and always ready to take on a new challenge. I’m excited to be here, excited to meet all of you, and ready to make a positive impact at Mar Vista High.

Hola, Bonjour, Hello!
My name is Gladys! Mar Vista High was my first school when I first came to the US in 2011 and it feels so good to be back.I currently teach Spanish and Ballet Folklorico here at Mar Vista High. I graduated from CSULB with a Major in Spanish and a Minor in Latin American Studies in June 2021. During High School, I fell in love with Mexican Folklorico, so in 2018 I also decided to get an Associates Degree in Dance. Besides dancing different styles of dances, I also love listening to music, traveling, spending time with my family, anything related to fashion and makeup, and being with my husband and my cat Dinah.

My name is Mr. Mitch, and I’m an instructional aide here at Mar Vista. I also work in the morning and afterschool programs. I’m currently pursuing my credential in Special Education, where I hope to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives.
When I’m not working, you can usually find me at a local punk show or at the roller rink taking pucks!

Hi all!
My name is Savannah, and I work in the afterschool program at Mar Vista High. I’ve lived in Imperial Beach my entire life which, of course, means I attended and graduated from Mar Vista as well.
In 2025, I graduated from UCSD with a degree in Sociology. I am currently looking forward to pursuing a masters degree in the fall!
I love music, film, and travel. I was lucky enough to spend 6 months studying abroad, and I hope I am able to do so again in the future.
I enjoy working with students, and hope to continue doing to.
