Greetings, Mariners!

Friday was Patriot Day, 9/11, a day to remember those whose lives were lost on September 11, 2001 and honor the sacrfices made by the first responders, heroes, and their families.  Pausing to reflect on that day gives us a solemn reminder that each day is precious and it also provides us a chance to celebrate the unity our country experienced following the events of 9/11. We celebrate the first responders in our own community and thank you for your service and sacrifice. 

Homecoming Week is in full swing.  The dance was at Loews Resort this weekend.  Students had fun at the Miami Nights themed evening and danced the night away!  There will be a spirit week this week, an assembly Friday, and the big game against Montgomery Hgh School Friday night in the MVH Stadium.  Let's pack those stands with Mariner PRIDE!

Please remember that MVH enforces a no cell phone policy during instructional time.  Students may access their phones and return calls and texts during nutrition break, lunch and after school.  If you need to reach your child during class time, please call the main office and we will be sure to send a message. 

LAST CHANCE!  WE NEED EVERY FAMILY TO COMPLETE A UNIVERSAL BENEFITS APPLICATION (UBA), even if you don't think you will qualify. ALL students benefit from the funding MVH receives.  

You have received emails regarding the Universal Benefit Applications (UBA) .  Please fill out this form as soon as possible.  This is the information that is used to determine how much federal funding Mar Vista High School receives and ALL students benefit from that funding.  That is why we need ALL families to complete the form.  Once you complete the form, you will be removed from the communications list and you will no longer receive reminders.  Thank you for helping us with this.  

Friday is the last day of school before fall break.  Students will return to school on TUESDAY, October 6th. 

We hope to see you all Friday night at 6:30pm for the Homecoming game and fireworks!

Evelynn Ortiz Nunez

Evelynn is a senior 1st year Tennis player. She has been one of our top singles player this season.   Not only is she a focused and hard worker on the court, she is a wonderful leader and teammate.   She is the epitome of a student athlete and a wonderful young woman.

Homecoming Game 

This Friday we will play Montgomery High beginning at 6pm.  Please note that all entry will be on IB Blvd.  You will not be able to access the game from Elm Ave.  Homecoming festivities will be held after the game and will culminate with a fire works display!  Hope to see you there.
