hAPPY nEW yEAR - wELCOME BACK LANCERS

Dear Lancers,

The start of the new year brings anticipation and excitement for new things to come. Although we continue to live with the restrictions of the pandemic, I hope you had a chance to rest and had the opportunity to safely spend time with your family over the holiday season. The school year will continue via distance learning /online, until further notice. I ask you to encourage your student to attend class everyday, engage in lessons, and ask for help when needed. We also have multiple opportunities for students to get involved in extra-curricular activities through our after school program (The Hill) and/or school clubs. Please continue to read our weekly newsletter to stay informed.

Take care,

Karen T. Hernandez, Principal

CHANGES TO COMMUNITY SERVICE REQUIREMENTS

As a result of these unprecedented times, the District has suspended the 30 hours of community service as part of this graduation requirement for the class of 2021 (current senior class).

For the graduating class of 2022 (current juniors), the 30 hours of community service will also be suspended. For the classes of 2023 and 2024, this graduation requirement will require a minimum of 15 hours. These required hours will be re-evaluated as needed once school sites are fully reopened.

This suspension of required hours does not preclude students from performing community service if their parents approve. This will be a family decision. If students and their families decide to serve community service hours for the 2020-2021 school year, these hours do not need to be pre-approved by the History/Social Science teacher. Hours completed may be submitted to the History/Social Science teacher for reporting. Hours that do not follow the district guidelines may not be counted for community service.
