Sweatyprints is me, Jan.
I cut lino’s and print them on just about anything I can get my hands on. Each and every print being a unique work. Every print took it’s time to cut and finetune into perfection. Then inking in layers and printing with pressure to infuse the ink into the fibers. This is a slow and skillfull process and it makes these t-shirts wearable pieces of art.
I have a lot of t-shirts, longsleeves, prints, etc. with me this weekend, but they all differ in size/colour/print.... the most courant sizes from S to XL, some smaller XS and some bigger, XXL ( and some little critter size ).
Before printing, we test these t-shirts. On our children, for durability and quality. We wash and dry them; to see if they keep the print well and don’t shrink too much. It’s no use printing artwork on a shirt that doesn’t last long... We prefer fair-trade and bio-cotton or linen.
As I print the t-shirts I like, and have the insatiable urge to keep cutting lino´s and printing ... so you get One-Of-A-Kind t-shirts. Real collector’s items.
That´s nice, right ?
Oh, and with some real dark shit on too, and sometimes just akward or nice.
Daarom SweatyPrints,
handwerk,
unieke T-shirts,
echte kleuren,
rauwe tekeningen,
prints.
Printing a drawing, it’s the ultimate old school, it has been underground, it became the way to make the first books and leaflets, it became mainstream, and then it went underground again.
But it is so magical, artisanal, real, it’s pure. Ink and paper, Ink and fabric.
From transferring your art to lino, cutting it away until a new version appears. And the supreme moment of printing it. It never really goes perfect, the art is in trying to get as close as you can to perfect. The art is the imperfection.
There ‘s always sweat, and less so, blood and tears involved, with making a PRINT.
