Our next SWE Meeting and Lean in Circle Discussion is on February 27th at 6pm. We will be meeting at Mellow Mushroom in Pooler. Come join us for FREE pizza!
Our Lean in Circle meeting topic will be “4 way to be an ally to other women”. There is a 6 minute video on Lean In, that I recommend watching prior to our Lean in Circle Discussion.
Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting! You do not have to be an official SWE member to attend.
Please join us at Bar Julian’s March Giving Tuesday on March 4th from 5pm to 7pm. We want to thank all of our Volunteers for Girls Engineer It! Day and our members. Also, Bar Julian will contribute 20% of the restaurant sales during that time to our SWE chapter! All are welcome to attend the party and SWE fundraiser. SWE will purchase pizza which will be first come first serve!

Engineers Week is Feb 16th to 22nd! Please give your favorite engineer a hug or some form of appreciation during that week! Also, introduce a Girl to Engineering Day happens on the Thursday of Engineers Week, February 20th. Girl Day, as it’s known, is a worldwide campaign to engage girls in engineering. Find resources, research, and more for Girl Day on the DiscoverE site and follow #GirlDay2025 on social media.

STEM is a buzz word that everyone is talking about these days. We take that acronym and bring it to life! Each year we host our Girls Engineer It! Day event designed to teach that Science, Technology, Engineering and Math isn’t as difficult as students might think.
Our Girls Engineer It! Day includes:
* An Expo where area companies showcase their STEM fields
* Each student participates in 2-3 different age-appropriate activities
* Open to all students Grades 4 – 12 (see activities based on grade below)
* Hands-on activities led by area STEM professionals and enthusiasts
* Commemorative t-shirt and goodie bag
* Free Parent session to support the students w/ their STEM journey

Although GEID is open to all students of all genders in grades 4-12, it is intended to showcase STEM fields to our future female innovators. SWE hopes to empower women to achieve their full potential and demonstrate the value of diversity and inclusion.

The nomination deadline for the SWE Awards Program is March 1, 11:59 p.m. CT. Awards will be presented at the WE25 Annual Conference Oct. 23 - 25, 2025. Please note the deadline change to March 1, 2025.
