Students will use 2D and3D modeling software to help them design solutions to solve proposed problems, document their work, and communicate solutions. This course is designed to get students excited about becoming true entrepreneurs by giving them the opportunity to create and fully develop their own product or service. Real-world entrepreneurs and business experts serve as coaches and mentors guiding student teams through the process of ideation, market research, and business plan development. Over the course of the year, student teams learn about marketing, accounting, as well as the legal aspects of starting a business. They have access to a network of professionals to further develop their skills (teamwork, problem solving, presentation, communication) for college and career readiness. Pitch Night helps to further fire the entrepreneurial spirit by putting student teams in front of actual entrepreneurs so they can pitch their innovative idea and turn their wishful thinking into a reality. In this course, students will demonstrate sales processes and techniques used in a business-to-business environment. They will develop, grow, and maintain positive business relationships through sales, marketing and promoting their school t-shirt business. Students will monitor trends and the business environment to determine the impact on their sales, customers, and competitors. They will negotiate and adjust prices and sales terms. Students will manage sales activities and territories. Technology, employability skills, leadership and communications will be incorporated in classroom activities.

Students learn programming in HTML and CSS while creating more interactive and professional looking websites. Students will focus on the basics of creating mobile applications using various mobile app components and stylesheets. Students will also use Raspberry Pi’s for learning basic computer programming in Python, program small programmable robots that empower gamers and learners to code, play and connect physical and digital worlds.
Students will learn to use Xcode and Swift, a powerful and intuitive open source programming language designed by Apple. It’s the same language professional developers are using in the fast-growing app economy to make apps for iOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, and beyond. Students will be able to work independently, with help from their teacher, using the Intro to App Development with Swift interactive guide where they will learn, practice, apply, and review on their classroom MacBook Pro.
