Battle of the Books

Click the image to the left to be directed to a presentation that shows the titles and summaries of this year's Battle of the Books selections. What is Battle of the Books??

“America's Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for students in 3rd thru 12th grades. Students read books and come together, usually in groups, to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books they have read. The student competitions are usually similar to the TV series Family Feud or Whiz Kids styles of competitions. However, the structure, format, and rules of the competitions may vary depending on the educational goals, student needs, local resources, and personal preferences at various school sites, school districts, county libraries, or offices of education.” (America’s Battle of the Books).

Tutoring Support with Paper!

We are excited to announce that SWCSD has partnered with Paper, a tutoring company.  This means students and teachers in grades 7-12 now have access to on-demand, high-quality academic support 24/7

Through Paper, our students can speak to a tutor anytime, anywhere for free. Whether they need help clarifying homework questions or need feedback on a written assignment, they can get on-demand and unlimited help when they need it.

Paper provides an instrumental support system for students and teachers:

Paper tutors have been specially trained to conduct expert, academic support in a secure, chat-based platform. With a commitment to helping students learn, they’ll never give students answers, but rather interact with them in an encouraging tone to lead them forward.
