Each year through the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board, the conservation awards program provides competition and incentives to expand and improve conservation efforts, resource development, and increase the wise utilization of our renewable natural resources.
The Board of Directors of the Bastrop County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) is pleased to announce and congratulate the First Place - Primary Division Essay winner of our 2023 contest! Melvin Dube, SWCD Board Director, presented McDade Elementary student Hazel S. the award for her original essay responding to this year's theme, “One Water”. The annual contest provides students the opportunity to learn about conservation and the wise use of our natural resources while writing their essays.
