Academic Societies, the Politics' Newsletter and Question Time

Borlase's Politics' students run a range of weekly academic societies.  Pol Soc, Phil Soc, International Relations Soc, Social Sciences Soc and Fem Soc hosting highly topical presentations and debates attended by KS4 & 5 students from within and beyond the department.

A monthly Politics Newsletter with analysis of the latest events is also published by current Y12 students.

SWBGS Question Time took place in November 2022 & March 2024.

Trips and Visits

Y12 visit to Parliament, the Supreme Court and Whitehall.

Y13 visit to NYC & Washington DC, including Congress and the Supreme Court. This trip has run for several years with the next scheduled for October 2025.

Mock election 2024 coincided with the UK General Election, saw a school voting turnout (all students and staff eligible) in excess of the national percentage. Local parliamentary candidates from parties standing in Beaconsfield, the school's constituency, visited Borlase and hosted Q & A sessions.  Mock Local Election 2025 with Q&A from newly elected Marlow Torn Councillor. Visiting speakers will be routinely scheduled.
