It is important that all students are confident that they can make an effective, purposeful start to their A level courses in September. All departments have been asked to outline preparatory work that students should complete over the summer.
Firstly, buy the textbook and visit the AQA website and look at the syllabus https://www.aqa.org.uk/subjects/business/a-level/business-7138/specification/specification-at-a-glance
Get informed! Starting points for wider reading, watching and listening are:
Newspapers/Magazines: Times, Sunday Times, Financial Times, Guardian, Observer, Daily Telegraph, Economist,
TV, Radio, podcasts: Dragons’ Den, The Bottom Line, In Business, Business Weekly, https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/genres/factual/money/player
TED Talks
Summer preparation:
Get into the habit of, or continue to, following the business news
Newspapers
Radio & TV reports
Websites
Podcasts
Then, if you’re convinced that you’d like to pursue A Level Business Studies, hand in a sheet of paper with the following title:
“How has the World Cup affected businesses in the UK?”
Think carefully about these. Choose TWO different businesses and explain, using data/examples, benefitted and/or suffered from the World Cup.
