With the Donald Trump administration’s anti-immigrant rhetoric and policies, millions of families find themselves facing increased racism, a constant fear of deportation, and a strengthened feeling of exclusion (Sanchez, 2019)―but these sentiments are not new. The presence of xenophobia in the United States’ history has been consistent. In listing out the governmental changes that have taken place over the last two presidential terms, context is given to how the country sees and interacts with the immigrant population.
