Practicing Strategies
Making Predictions
Readers make predictions while they read. They predict before they start their story, during the story, and can even think about what might happen after the story ends! A good prediction is a guess about what will happen next. A great prediction can be supported with details and evidence from the story.
(Ask a reading partner what they think will happen next in their story, and why?)

Envisioning
To envision, or visualize, means to make a mental movie in your mind. You should see and hear the story unfolding before you. Use your imagination to picture what the author's words are showing you!
Enter your stories and live in the world of your characters.
(Stop and jot a set of eyes on a Post-it when you come to a section of your story that you can really envision!)
