Program Description

The moderate special needs program at Hadley School is based on a Resource Room model. The Special Education Teacher, Mrs. Biron and Educational Support Professionals, Mrs. Collier and Mrs. Groothius (Mrs. G) provide children who have mild to moderate special needs with academic support in their specific area(s) of need based upon their Individualized Education Program. The Special Education Resource Room team members work collaboratively with general education teachers throughout the course of the school year to ensure the children are making progress towards their goals and objectives, and to help children find success within the general education classroom.

Hadley School supports an inclusion model when appropriate to address student's needs. It also provides individual and small group pull out sessions when more direct services will best facilitate a student’s academic growth. Services are decided upon through the collaboration of a team comprised of teachers, the school psychologist, the principal, the Special Education Chairperson, and the parents.

In conjunction with individualized academic programs, the Hadley School Special Education program also addresses student's needs through related services. Speech and language therapy, reading support, occupational therapy, and physical therapy are delivered through inclusion and pull-out sessions to support the whole child through their Individualized Education Program. The Hadley School Special Education Team strives to provide our students with the least restrictive, comprehensive individualized program to encourage academic progress and personal growth.

Fair isn't everybody getting the same thing, fair is everybody getting what they need in order to be successful.
