Arrival/Dismissal:

Doors open at 8:10 a.m. and school begins at 8:15 a.m. Please remind your child to line up on the blue line right outside the classroom. If you arrive after 8:15 a.m., you must check in at the office. Dismissal is at 2:15 P.M. and your child will be dismissed from the Norfolk Ave door. to the courtyard Please wave to me when you see your child standing at the door. Please be sure to notify the office (781-596-8812) if someone else will be picking up your child or put a note in his/her home-school folder. You may also write a note to say that “I authorize __________ to pick up my child whenever I am unavailable,” then you will not need to call each time. Also, please call the office to report your child's absences or if you need an early dismissal.

Appropriate Clothing and Footwear:

Our classroom will be an interactive one to better facilitate learning. Please send your child in appropriate, worry free clothing. Especially rubber soled (such as sneakers) for safe climbing and outdoor running. We want all children to feel comfortable to interact and be safe while doing so.

Change of Clothes:

I would also ask that you send in a change of clothes in a labeled ziplock bag, please include hats and mittens for cooler weather. If your child needs to borrow something from the nurse's clothing supply, please launder and return withing a few days of borrowing.

Notification of Absence:

Please notify the office (781-596-8812) if your child is absent. Send a note upon their return including the date/reason for their absence.

Birthdays:

We will acknowledge birthdays in our class! You may send in stickers, crayons, bookmarks or pencils if you would like to celebrate as a treat. This is completely optional. NO food treats!

Every child will have the opportunity to bring home Birthday Bear. Within Birthday Bear’s bag there will be birthday books that you can read to your child as they cuddle with Birthday Bear. I simply ask that you return the books, and birthday bear back in the birthday bag on the next school day.

The children will be recognized by their peers with a creation of a special birthday book created just for them.

Homework:

Check your child's home/school folder each night. All written work should be in pencil, unless otherwise noted.

Remind your child of proper letter formation. Have them sing the song “If You Want to Start a Letter”. They should be reminded that there should only be an uppercase letter for the first letter of their name. We write our name using the “Kindergarten Way."

Code of Conduct:

The children recite every morning the Code of Conduct during morning announcements. We strongly believe every child should uphold these values to become a strong Clarke School Citizen. Please talk to your children about these important words:

  • WE WILL ...
  • Be Honest
  • Be Polite
  • Harm No One
  • Respect Ourselves and Others
  • Respect Property
  • Be Responsible
  • Move Safely
  • Cooperate
