Below are answers to common questions for using Google
Google Classroom can be accessed at classroom.google.com
Students should log in with their TWS student account details (see FAQ below)
For a guided tour of Google Classroom please see the video tutorials available here
All students’ logins for Google will be in the format:
tws<<year started at tws>>.FLastname@swale.at
To illustrate with an example, Jo Brown starting in September 2019 would have the email account:
tws19 (started school in September 2019) followed by a full stop .
J (First letter of student's first name)
brown (The whole of the student's last name)
Followed by @swale.at
All together that would be: tws19.jbrown@swale.at
There are a few exceptions and students should know if they have a different login, if you are not sure of your child's account details please email tws_googlehelp@swale.at or complete this form
In the first instance please contact your child's mentor, they will have the ability to reset passwords. If you are unable to do this please click on the Technical Support button at the top of this page.
Please watch the Google Classroom videos they cover how to upload files on Desktop, Apple and Android. If you are experiencing issues please leave a comment on the assignment in Google Classroom and the teacher will be able to assist you.
The best way to view work on Google Classroom is via the ✅To-Do list. This will allow you to see work due by date and also allows you to view work set by class.
You can access the To Do list by clicking on the three lines in the top left corner of Google Classroom and selecting "To Do" (it has an icon of a list and a tick next to it).
You can also access your upcoming deadlines by using 📆Google Calendar. All of the deadlines for your assessments will show in the calendar.
All work that you complete on Google is stored in your school 💻Google Drive folder.
You can access this directly here.
In Google Classroom you can also access your 💻Google Drive folder under the Classwork tab of a particular classroom.
What is Google Drive?
Google Drive is cloud storage for all of your documents you create as part of assignments on Google Classroom. Because Google is cloud based any Google Docs, Google Slides or Google Sheets files being worked on are saved automatically and are backed up on Google Drive.
This can be done via settings and a video will shortly be added here to demonstrate that process.
PowerPoint and Word documents do not offer the same editing functionality as Google Slides and Google docs do. Therefore if a teacher has a set you work that requires you to edit a PowerPoint or Word document please download the files and re-upload them afterwards.
We have produced the following guidance on how to do this.
Please note that we cannot offer technical support accessing Google on these devices.
