What does good science teaching look like in the classroom?
The science walkthrough tool is a good way to measure the effectiveness of the instruction that is occurring in the classroom. Start with a phenomenon! Have students wonder about science! Students should be engaged in the lesson from beginning to end of the class period. Teachers should deliver the K-12 standards in a way that reflects three-dimensional (SEP, DCI, CCC) learning. Students should have multiple opportunities to demonstrate their learning utilizing key scientific practices as teachers adjust their instruction to meet student needs based on their formative assessment.
