EY Kartini Day
Written by Ms. Mila
On 19 April 2024, the Wayang Piazza was a vibrant tapestry of colours, sounds, and shared purpose as Early Years (EY) education celebrated Kartini Day and Earth Day in unison. Under the theme "Kartini's Recycle - Preserving Earth's Treasures," the event seamlessly merged Indonesia's rich cultural heritage with a steadfast commitment to environmental stewardship, encapsulating the essence of both commemorations.
The celebration not only acquainted children with the remarkable journey of Raden Ajeng Kartini but also instilled within them a sense of environmental responsibility. Through engaging in recycling-based arts and crafts activities, young minds were inspired to think creatively while also learning the importance of preserving the Earth's treasures.
As the celebration unfolded, the Wayang Piazza came alive with the vibrant colours of Indonesian traditional costumes adorning both students and teachers alike. Throughout the event, children actively participated in singing, dancing, and fashion shows engaging in Indonesian folk music, creating a sense of cultural immersion and celebration. As the festivities came to a close, the Wayang Piazza echoed with laughter, music, and the shared sense of accomplishment that comes from coming together to celebrate and protect what truly matters – our cultural heritage and the precious planet we call home.
The K2 students also want to be heroes in saving the fragile world. They do simple things like saving water and electricity, planting trees, and picking up trash. Even though they're small actions, they're our first steps in taking care of our planet. Just like Kartini, we want to make things better for the future. Selamat Hari Kartini dan Hari Bumi!
Infant Literacy
Written by Ms. Ann
In our infant class, it's a joy to witness the incredible progress our little ones are making in language acquisition. Through engaging hands-on tasks, they're eagerly absorbing new vocabulary every day. Beginning with concepts like 'mother' and 'father,' they're building a foundation for communication.
Our babies recently delighted in creating a special breakfast for their mum and dad. From crafting strawberry jam sandwiches to pouring milk over cereal, every activity was a learning adventure. They also explored making pizza, which helped them practise focusing and following simple instructions. As they refine their fine motor skills, they're also distinguishing between different objects and concepts.
In addition to these activities, our class is expanding its vocabulary by exploring the world around us. Nursery rhymes and stories like 'The Five Little Monkeys' and 'The Wheels on the Bus' spark interaction and excitement. Through their expressions, gestures, and babbling, it's clear our little ones are eager to participate in songs and actions.

K1 Music
Written by Ms. Melissa
We're excited to share the latest adventure in our Kindergarten 1 music class! Our little musicians dove into the world of text improvisation with the beloved song "Dinah". It was a joyous exploration filled with laughter, creativity, and of course, lots of music!
In our lesson, we encouraged the children to let their imaginations soar as they filled in the blanks of "old banjo" with their own instrument ideas. From the rhythmic beat of drums to the tinkling melody of xylophones, each child had the opportunity to express their unique musical vision.
But it wasn't just about playing the instruments; singing in tune was also a key focus of our lesson. With gentle guidance and encouragement, we helped our young singers find their voices and stay on pitch as they sang along with the music.
The result? A delightful cacophony of sound that filled our classroom with joy and excitement! As the children proudly showcased their improvised versions of "Dinah", we couldn't help but marvel at their creativity and enthusiasm for music.
K2 Field Trip

Our Kindergarten 2 students had their field trip to Mako Bakery! It was a day filled with excitement, learning, and delicious treats.
The journey began with the students boarding the bright red school bus, buzzing with anticipation for the day ahead. Upon arrival, each student transformed into a little baker, donning a chef hat and apron, ready to take on the culinary world.
Guided by the skilled bakers at Mako Bakery, our young chefs learned the art of dough-making. They discovered the techniques and patience required to mix and knead dough, which is the foundation of all bread making. But the highlight of the day was undoubtedly making their very own pizza bread!
Following step-by-step instructions from the bakery's head baker, the students put on their gloves and got to work. They rolled out their dough with rolling pins, carefully flattened it, and then had a blast adding toppings like sausage slices, cheese, tomato, and cheese sauce.
To cap off this wonderful experience, Mako Bakery awarded each student with a certificate of achievement and goodies to take home. This gesture made our little bakers feel truly accomplished and proud of their creations.
The children returned from the field trip with not only their handmade treats but also a heightened curiosity about baking and a desire to learn how to make other types of bread. It was a day of fun, learning, and baking that our Kindergarten 2 students will remember for a long time!
ES
ES Kartini Day
Written by Ms. Marcel & Ms. Junita
"I want to build a school like Ibu Kartini," said one kid, starting off the event.
In a colourful hall with traditional Indonesian clothes, ES students gathered excitedly. Songs, dances, and a great choir performance by the Parents Association celebrated Indonesia's culture. But the best part was the "Seribu Wajah Kartini" Gallery. Here, Ibu Kartini's essence transcended through diverse artistic expressions, from the bold strokes of Fauvism to the abstract forms of Cubism and the lively hues of Pop Art. Intricate Batik patterns and art installations further showcased her enduring influence.
For ES students, Kartini's story showed her many sides. The event ended with an art auction, where people bought paintings. The money went to help others, just like Kartini did. This was a big deal, showing kindness and making a difference, just like Kartini did in her time. Everyone left feeling inspired by her story and wanting to do good too.

The bus ride back to school was lively, with students engaging in fun conversations, singing their favorite songs, and enjoying snacks. When they arrived back at school, the students excitedly flew their kites, putting their newfound knowledge and skills to the test.
